Most of us know what a conspiracy theory is, yet there is quite a bit of history behind this peculiar term. You see, referring to something as a ‘conspiracy theory’ immediately discredits whatever valid arguments that theory might have, and this is something that both governments and intelligence agencies know very well. As a matter of fact, it is said that it was actually the CIA who invented the term during early stages of the Cold War to shut down all private inquiries of government business. This way, they could call any unsubstantiated yet reasonable concern about the way they were running things a ‘conspiracy theory’ thus discrediting the person and/or group of persons who raised the point in the first place.
We have come a long way since, the Cold War is over, but although there isn’t a fear of Communist infiltration anymore to warrant the abuse and violation of human rights by government officials, powerful individuals/organizations still manage to ‘fly under the radar’ per se, by ridiculing those who dare to challenge the system. Let us remember the ten most recent conspiracy theories that turned out to be true to get a better understanding of how vile, deceiving, and why not, treacherous are the powerful people ruling over all of us.

The report revealed that the National Security Agency collected data through online surveillance from people who had zero connections to terror activities. About 90% of the data collected by the NSA is not terror related according to the report
