9Chocolate inspired the invention of the microwave
One would be forgiven to think that chocolate and microwaves have no relation whatsoever. However, the 1940s invention that is the microwave was chocolate inspired. During world war two, Percy Spence was a scientists working on the radar and weapons project. One day while using a device known as magnetron, he noticed that the chocolate he had in his pocket turned in to mush. From this he deduced that magnetrons were capable of heating foods at incredibly fast rates and thus the idea of the microwave was conceptualized.
